Hey guys! I think I got a great tip for you, and this tip is: how do you find a building owner’s name and potentially their contact information?

And where I would first start is consider an app called OnXHunt, and it’s a mapping tool, and I have it right here. Now, you do have to pay for this. Potentially, your real estate agent has it as well. And what you can do is zoom into a property and see exactly who that property owner is.

Another thing to consider is the Olmsted County GIS in the county that we’re located in. In whatever county you’re located in, if you get access to the GIS and property tax information, you can look on there to see where that property tax statement is being sent. So if the property owner is not in the state that they own the property, you can find out where they live. 

You can also look at what’s called a CRV – certificate of real estate value – through your GIS. And now, some states have made it mandatory that all property sales have what’s called an eCRV, it’s filed electronically. So that just makes it even more accessible to you. So, if you google “eCRV Minnesota,” you will find that there’s an ability to search all the properties that sold in a county, and the eCRV was filed in that county during that month you’re searching.

So, those are a couple tips to look up the property owner for the space that you’re considering opening your business in.
