Hey guys! In Rochester, Minnesota, we’re seeing a lot of growth. We’re seeing developers come in, even internationally, to acquire land for potential future development. Your real estate agent needs to be in tune with where those future developments are going to be.

And the reason that I say that is because, if you move your business to a place that next door is going to be a construction zone for the next three years due to a $100 million project, it can drastically affect your opportunity of being successful in small business. So, consider finding a real estate agent that understands what is happening in the market.

Another thing you can do – and this is a tip for yourself – obviously pay attention to the local news. Another thing you can look at is the Olmsted County GIS (that’s the county we are in), or whatever county you’re in, and you can see if there’s property owners next door to where you are moving your business that all have the same name. And the reason I say that is developers tend to buy properties all with the same entity name, and they may be assembling a site. And that could be the flag to you to understand there could be future development there; which, most people won’t go that level of research, but it can definitely affect your chances of being successful.
